Youth Sports Grant
In honor of Michael McCarthy’s love of sports and his dedication to academics, the Youth Sports Grant program will provide financial support for families in Newport County. Eligible applicants must be participating in the following areas: youth athletic programs; community- based programs addressing an active lifestyle and team building skills; and established camps with an emphasis on sports.
The grant program is particularly interested in providing opportunities for participation of children and young adults age 18 and under. The grant program may provide financial support for the purchase of equipment needed for participation in youth sports programs, as well as full or partial scholarship funding for camps or youth athletic programs.
Grants will be awarded to a variety of sports and recreational activities in Newport County throughout the course of the year. The grant program has four annual application deadlines that have been created to correspond with seasonal sports activities. They are January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st. However, exceptions to the awards deadlines may be made if the applicants needs do not fall within the stated due dates for participation.
The upcoming deadline for applications is July 1, 2024.
The amount of funding will range from a minimum of twenty five dollars up to a maximum of fifteen hundred dollars.
