Michael E. McCarthy Scholarship Fund invites you to celebrate our 20th Year and transition to the Rhode Island Foundation!

Please join us to celebrate the 20th year of The McCarthy Scholarship fund as we hand things off to the Rhode Island Foundation. We will be hosting a cookout with hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ chicken, macaroni and potato salads, coleslaw, corn-on-the cob, potato chips, watermelon, coffee, tea and lemonade. Vegetarian meals served on request. There will also be a cash bar,  50/50 Raffle, entertainment, and games & fun for everyone!

Time: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Location: Kempenaar’s Clambake Club, 323 Valley Road, Middletown, RI
Cost: $40 per adult, $20 per child under 13

The Michael E. McCarthy Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Michael “Mike” McCarthy, who tragically passed away in an accident on September 10th, 2004. Thanks to the continued support from the Newport County community, we have been able to successfully assist students and families through our academic scholarships and Youth Sports Grant Program.

To date, we have awarded scholarships totaling $116,000 to selected seniors at Middletown High School and Tiverton High School. Additionally, senior students at Stonehill College with financial need have received a total of $49,000, and the Edward P. McCarthy award, given to selected students at Rogers High School who exemplify good character, has totaled $17,500. Our Youth Sports Grant Program has also provided $49,547 to children in our community, enabling them to participate in various programs that promote a healthy lifestyle.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Michael E. McCarthy Scholarship Fund, I am pleased to announce that we have surpassed $230,000 in total giving to date!

We are also excited to share that the Michael E. McCarthy Scholarship Fund will be partnering with the Rhode Island Foundation moving forward.
